Dating isn’t always straight forward and can seem like a scary thing, especially if you are new to it. Everybody approaches it differently, but here are a few tips both men and women can try.
Be The Real You
There is nothing more appealing than the real and raw version of yourself.
We have all heard the advice of ‘just be yourself’, even if it is tempting to pretend we are interested in things we’re not.
As much as we strive to impress other people, it can actually be more damaging to fake interests as you can quite easily get caught out.
By relaxing and allowing your date to get to know the real you, will have more of a positive impact on the overall experience.
After all, everybody’s more attractive when they are relaxed.
Keep An Open Mind
Agreeing to go on a date, but turning up with preconceptions of how it’s going to go is not the best way to start.
By really listening to what your date is saying and asking relevant questions will show your interested. It also increases your chances that they will do the same for you.
The added benefit of listening and asking questions it that you will be able to gauge your compatibility early on.
Awkward Moments Are Inevitable
As much as we all try to avoid them, awkward moments will happen. For many of us, whether we show it or not, all experience first date nerves.
A good way to get a conversation started is to pre-plan an ice breaker. Try asking a question like – ‘what is your favourite childhood movie?’
It’s easier to steer a conversation once the first question has been asked.
Don’t Play Games
Most of us don’t have time for games. The last thing we want to be doing is trying to work out whether our date really likes us, or whether they have other motives.
The easiest way to find out how you both really feel is to just be open and honest about your feelings.
Having Fun
The most important thing to remember when dating is to have fun!
Life is too short to over worry about being nervous or being rejected. There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and form great relationships.
Leave your past experiences and preconceptions at the door, order what you like, laugh and smile and enjoy the date.
